UK Government Might Know When The Elder Scrolls 6 Is Releasing
Some UK government documents make reference to the upcoming role-playing game, The Elder Scrolls 6, suggesting they may have knowledge of its release date. Since Skyrim has been out since 2011 (its original release), it’s reasonable to assume that many fans are getting restless for the next instalment in the storied Bethesda series. Fans may have to wait years for its release, as the developer has revealed very little about the project.

Since The Elder Scrolls 6 may still be in pre-production and Bethesda is finishing up Starfield, its first new IP in a quarter of a century, there doesn’t appear to be much of a rush for Todd Howard and his team to address TES6 updates. At this point, all we can do is wait, and while there will undoubtedly be a lot of rumours and speculation about when the launch might take place, it’s possible that some government officials already know.
Apparently, the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) is looking into the Microsoft/Activision Blizzard merger, as detailed in a document uploaded to the UK government website and spotted by UESP’s Twitter account, which was then picked up by PCGamesN. A brief mention of The Elder Scrolls 6 is made under a section about some “mid-sized” games currently under Microsoft’s wing, with the disclaimer that it is “not expected to be released before [REDACTED].” A release date for the anticipated role-playing game may have been accidentally leaked, as shown here, only to be swiftly scrubbed from view. However, no one knows for sure what this date could be.
The head of Xbox last year, Phil Spencer, said that The Elder Scrolls 6 would be coming after Fable 4, but even Fable 4 is expected to be in development for a long time, possibly years. For this reason, there is still no concrete information for fans about when the former will be released, which is understandably frustrating given that Skyrim has been out for 11 years.
The Elder Scrolls games are highly anticipated because of their extensive backstories and open worlds, so players have been waiting a long time for a new installment. Although Bethesda did unveil a teaser trailer for the game in 2018, little has been heard about it since then. After the developer has released Starfield, hopefully information about TES6 will be forthcoming sometime next year.
