The 2.0 update for Splatoon 3 has been confirmed for release on November 29; the game’s new content will go live on November 30 at 4 p.m. PT. All players who want to play online or with their friends who have already updated must first download and install the update. The game’s software updates can be accessed from the main menu. If the software fails to update automatically, players can manually do so.

Those who play Splatoon 3 and are interested in archiving their current replays should do so as soon as possible. As soon as a new patch for Splatoon 3 is released, any previously-pinned or uploaded replays will no longer work. This is because of how replays work, and it appears that Nintendo has no plans to alter this.

When compared to Splatoon 2, Splatoon 3 has a more organised update schedule, with the intention of adding seasonal content. Even if patches and other minor updates drop in the meantime, this content drop should serve to reinvigorate the game for those who have reached the maximum catalogue level and depleted all available stock. After the patch goes live, all players’ progress through the current catalogue will be deleted and a new Chill Season catalogue will become available. The ability to search the catalogue while in-game is another feature coming to Splatoon 3.

It appears that Splatoon 3 has a promising future as it is one of Nintendo’s best-selling games this year. Future paid DLC for Splatoon 3 will likely centre on Pearl and Marina from Off the Hook, who were featured prominently in Splatoon 2, as well as other idols from the series. It remains to be seen if the story from the Octo Expansion DLC for Splatoon 2 is continued, but it seems likely that the stories will at least be connected. You’ll just have to hold off until later this week to check out the new content that’s been added to the game.
