Despite the fact that Ronaldo is, without a doubt, one of the best strikers of all time, his recent problems with Manchester United and Portugal have led many to wonder whether his amazing career is coming to a cruel end.

With 117 goals in 191 official matches for his country’s national team, Ronaldo is the all-time leader in international football scoring.

Eighteen years have gone between his debut goal for Portugal, against Greece at Euro 2004, and his most recent, a double against Switzerland in June 2022.

He now holds the record for most goals ever scored in the Champions League with 140 goals, and he has scored 818 goals throughout his career.

His current form and attitude have been scrutinised, especially for a role model athlete who is used to smashing records while playing for top teams like Real Madrid, Juventus, and Manchester United.

His two goals against Switzerland in the Nations League were his only ones in Portugal’s 10 matches during the last 12 months.

Ronaldo has struggled to break into the starting lineup and show his discontent with the lack of minutes, making headlines for both his and United’s poor performance this season (just three goals) and his issues with manager Erik ten Hag.

After moving to United from Juve, he finished last season as United’s leading scorer with 24 goals. United have a year-long extension option on his contract that expires in June 2023.

Ronaldo will be leading a group of players largely regarded as among the world’s greatest, but who have arguably underachieved on the grandest stage, when he arrives for his sixth World Cup as captain.

They reached the World Cup semi-finals in 2006, but have since been eliminated in the round of 16 on two occasions (2010 and 2018) and in the group stage once (2014).

Even while it may seem like Ronaldo’s amazing career is coming to an end, he strongly disagrees.

“Cristiano is not completely gone yet. I’m on a youthful squad with aspirations of playing in both the World Cup and the next European Championships “The September event took place in Portugal, where Ronaldo made the comments.

A dogged determination that might be decisive in helping his country make a statement in Qatar.
