Overwatch 2 Patch Given New Release Date
As a result, the Overwatch 2 patch that was originally slated for November 15 will instead be released on November 17. Blizzard updated the forum article that announced the postponement to reflect the new date.

Overwatch 2 Patch Given New Release Date
Blizzard said the Overwatch 2 patch update for November 15 will be delayed owing to a “major problem” only hours before it was scheduled to go live. No concrete information was provided, so users were left wondering how long they would have to wait for the next patch. Blizzard found and fixed the problem swiftly, thus the patch will be available sooner than some fans would have hoped.
Overwatch 2’s next hero balancing and content patch will go live on November 17 at 2 PM ET/11 AM PT. After a long absence owing to an issue with her Ice Wall, Mei will return to Overwatch 2 with this patch. Genji, Zarya, Sombra, D.Va, and Kiriko will all get balancing changes in this release as well. D.Va and Kiriko’s updates are being seen as very small in contrast to the other characters’ nerfs.
The Overwatch League Playoffs awards and viewership incentives, including as sprays, name cards, icons, select Overwatch League skins, and other associated shop goods, will also be included in this mid-season patch with core game updates and unspecified bug fixes. There were no hiccups with the weekly and daily challenges or the revamp of the shop.
Again, Blizzard has not said what the actual major problem was, but it was serious enough to threaten the game’s future. Since Overwatch 2 has a history of problems, it seemed prudent to take a conservative approach to fixing this one. Since three characters have been taken out of Overwatch 2 already, it’s unlikely that Blizzard will risk more issues by releasing a patch only to see what happens.
Those who play Mei in Overwatch 2 will be pleased with the patch, while those who play Genji will be dismayed since his nerfs may severely reduce his competitive efficacy. Sojourn, on the other hand, is unbeatable in almost all games, and her players have long demanded a nerf to no avail. Whether you’re a player hoping for a Sojourn nerf, you’ll want to wait until the Season 2 update on December 6 to see if one is implemented. Since that patch will bring Ramattrra, it’s possible that future adjustments to hero balance could be delayed even more.
