Someone who clearly enjoys both Minecraft and Doctor Who combined the two by creating a blocky version of Gallifrey, the planet where the Time Lords live. The Mojang sandbox game has consistently demonstrated to be an endless source of player creativity, earning it a reputation as one of the most influential survival games of all time. For a long time, Minecraft has dominated the gaming industry thanks to its unique visual style, wide range of players, expansive world, and practically limitless construction options.

The prevalence of Minecraft in modern culture means that it often serves as a bridge between disparate subcultures. Minecraft has become an integral part of popular culture due to fan creations such as movie scene recreations, parodies of popular TV shows, and even an official Simpsons opening made in the game’s visual style, not to mention projects that raise awareness and money for good causes. Despite the game’s apparent age, players continue to create impressive structures.

Case in point: tucker-ed-out, a user on Reddit. They flaunted their abilities in a series of images posted to the Minecraft forum, depicting a recreation of the planet Gallifrey from the immensely popular BBC science fiction program. The Doctor’s cube-shaped house is depicted in miniature in each screenshot. The user claims that all of the major fictional locations, as well as Daleks, Cybermen, Chancellery Guards, and more, are represented in this work. The build doesn’t seem to be downloadable, but tucker-ed-out has informed curious onlookers that they can check out the planet on the user’s server.

Doctor Who is one of the longest-running shows ever, so it was only a matter of time before someone made a replica of the show’s sets in Minecraft. A fan took it upon themselves last year to design and build a replica of the TARDIS police box that was both faithful and original. This is already pretty cool, especially for fans of the show, but what really made it stand out was the way they replicated the time machine’s physics-defying interior.

It’s not surprising that Minecraft has attracted so many players all over the world given the breadth of hardware it runs on, from retro consoles to mobile phones. Since there have always been fans eager to present their works, I have no doubt that the community is filled with talented and devoted individuals.
