Gunship Perk Leads Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Player into Rare Animation
One Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 player spotted a strange animation issue when their Gunship perk terminated at the same moment their gunship was destroyed by a rocket. Numerous gamers have seen unusual occurrences since the release of Infinity Ward’s newest, and such things as strange behaviours, problems, and malfunctions are to be expected. Just recently, a gamer demonstrated a flying AI adversary while playing Invasion in the Modern Warfare 2 multiplayer.

Gunship Perk Leads Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Player into Rare Animation
While most of these occurrences aren’t game-breaking, it’s good to know that help is on the way as the first season of Modern Warfare 2 approaches. On the other hand, there have been instances of more significant faults with the game that have caused people’s matches to be halted. Fans of the game’s multiplayer mode have noticed issues with the riot shield rendering players untouchable, in addition to the game crashing throughout the campaign. Now, one player has found a weird bug with the Gunship perk under certain settings.
A new video by user MrOneXTwo has been uploaded to the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 subreddit, in which he allegedly visits the location known as “The Upside Down” by the community in allusion to the Netflix series Stranger Things. In the beginning of the clip, everything seems normal when the player uses the Gunship perk to launch an assault on the other squad. The player is doing rather well, despite receiving the occasional hit when they switch between weaponry. In the last moments of the perk, the player is returned to their ground-based body, but the sounds of AI troops screaming and the Gunship being destroyed indicate that something is amiss.
The player enters a map covered in crimson fog and hears alarm sirens instead of continuing where they left off. Then the screen turns black, and the bad guys start shooting at them. This is an extremely uncommon bug that occurs if the Gunship perk expires and the player’s ship is shot down at the same time, but it is still rather startling. According to the thread’s commenters, this triggers a bugged death animation that merges the player’s perspective with the inside of the Gunship, complete with flashing red lights and warning sirens. Those remaining inside the Gunship after it is destroyed will see a black screen.
While fans anticipate a few strange issues and hiccups in the first week of Call of Duty: Warzone 2’s release next week, they are crossing their fingers that cheating won’t make matters worse. Fortunately, Activision’s Ricochet tool is up and has already started the process of culling such players, something the original Warzone lacked for almost a year. Two weeks into Modern Warfare 2’s multiplayer release, gamers have already seen cheats trying to gain an unfair edge.
