Several people agree with a GTA Online player who has voiced their displeasure with the game’s first-person mode. Fans are getting agitated over issues that still haven’t been fixed as the game approaches its tenth anniversary.

Even though Rockstar Games is ending Red Dead Online, Grand Theft Auto Online is still going strong. Some players have been frustrated by persistent bugs in the game’s core systems, despite the fact that it receives regular updates that add new missions, heists, content, and Los Santos businesses to own.

The issue at hand is, as TheEldenCasual of the GTA Online subreddit pointed out, the less-than-ideal and less-than-realistic first-person perspective while driving in cars. A group of players have posted a collage of screenshots depicting the experience of playing a driving game from the first-person perspective. As a result of the dashboard and steering wheel blocking a large portion of the screen, it is more difficult to see oncoming traffic. A different view shows the player in what TheEldenCasual considers to be an optimal driving position, with a larger portion of the road visible and the windshield positioned in the visual centre of the screen.

Fans were quick to agree with the general sentiment of the post and join the discussion. Many people pointed out that this perspective could work if the player character in GTA Online were very short, but they aren’t, so it’s not. Players’ supposed need for a booster seat was the subject of some lighthearted banter. Curiously, the second image with the superior POV is a typical view in the game as well, but only when the player is first getting into the vehicle. When they’re finally ready to drive, the camera angles downward, making it look like they’ve sunk into their seat.

If you’re having trouble seeing or getting queasy in first-person mode in GTA Online, don’t worry—you can always switch back to third-person at any time. When the game was released for the then-next-gen PS4 and Xbox One systems, the first-person mode was hailed as one of the most significant additions. Since that time, eight years have passed, making significant changes to the game’s point of view seems unlikely.

Players of GTA Online may be out of luck, but there’s still hope that GTA 6’s first-person mode will have more customization options. The ability to adjust the player’s viewpoint in the car would go a long way toward making first-person driving more enjoyable for everyone.
