Possibly adding fast travel to GTA Online in the future, according to a recent survey. The survey was distributed to a select group of GTA Online users in an effort to gather their thoughts on future additions to Rockstar Games’ video game franchises.

Next year will mark ten years since Grand Theft Auto Online’s release, and the game shows no signs of slowing down. Even though many players have their sights set on the forthcoming GTA 6, there is still a chance that GTA Online will receive some additional features in the not-too-distant future.

Players in GTA Online were offered GTA$ for completing a survey. In it, players were asked which aspects of the GTA+ subscription service they used the most and least, but it also alluded to two upcoming additions to the game that aren’t available yet: fast travel and access to previous Rockstar Games titles. Although official Rockstar Games channels have been silent on the matter, players have been able to extrapolate certain details from the survey.

The fast travel feature, available in Red Dead Redemption 2, is currently unavailable in GTA Online. For a small in-game fee, that function allowed players to instantly transport to any one of a number of cities or outposts. This was a practical addition, as the world of Red Dead Redemption 2 is considerably larger than that of GTA Online, and players don’t have access to a massive fleet of vehicles and aircraft to whisk them from one area to another. However, due to the size of the map, some players may wish a fast travel option was included in GTA Online or even GTA 6.

One of the most intriguing things about this poll is its narrow focus on GTA+ additions. There is a monthly fee for this service, but in exchange, members receive benefits like discounts and extra items in-game. Although many GTA+ players would welcome the addition of a fast travel option as a new perk, doing so could unfairly disadvantage those who do not pay for the service. It’s possible that if players are able to zip around the city quickly, they’ll be able to get to and finish jobs more quickly, increasing their GTA$ earnings.

Of course, the disadvantage would be unacceptable to non-subscribers, but given that GTA Online as a whole is free, it is understandable that subscribers would receive some additional benefits. Most players who stick around for a while end up with a garage full of fast rides and access to features like the game’s limo service. Hopefully, if and when a fast-travel feature is implemented in GTA Online or released alongside GTA 6, it won’t throw the game’s balance off.
