Goat Simulator 3 Parodies Skyrim’s Opening

The release of Goat Simulator 3 brings with it a number of new features, including a nod to the opening cart scene from The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim, and a number of other games. The original goat submission was built as a joke during a Game Jam, an event where participants try to make a game from scratch in a short amount of time. Because of this, 2014’s Goat Simulator is widely regarded as one of the best and most ridiculous simulators ever made.

Fans of the first Goat Simulator expected lots of parodies for the sequel, which is being called Goat Simulator 3, and developer Coffee Stain Studios delivered. The teaser for Gamescom 2022 was a send-up of Dead Island 2; it featured a runner sprinting down a dock while goats headbutted passersby indifferently. Fans are certain to be on the lookout for even more easter eggs now that the game has been released.

They needn’t search far; an IGN video features 16 minutes of Goat Simulator 3, and it begins with the player awakening on the back of a cart being pushed by a farmer, so they can get a good feel for the game without having to wait. The farmer continues his lecture on the challenges that lay ahead by saying, “You’re finally awake.” The famous opening sequence of Skyrim is an allusion to this; the player awakens in a waggon with other captives on their way to Helgen to be executed. But in this spoof, the main goat isn’t put to death; instead, the farmer, who calls the waggon the “Skyrim cart,” sets it free to explore the countryside.

Skyrim’s introductory sequence is renowned across the game industry. Many gamers have probably already skipped the long introduction since it’s been watched so many times by so many people, but game modders have made it feasible to do so. While The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim was released 11 years ago, the connection is still a clear tribute to one of the most well-known role-playing games of the last decade.

Even though some may consider PT to be antiquated, Coffee Stains Studios included a nod to it in its sequel. As many players will soon discover, Goat Simulator 3 has a lot of ridiculous gameplay, and although the reviews haven’t been great so far, the game will still have its devoted following.
