Far Cry 6 Expansion Reveal Coming Soon

Ubisoft is getting ready to release a new DLC for Far Cry 6, and if the series’ history is any indication, it will be wildly different from what players expect. Far Cry 6’s villain, Anton Castillo, was played by renowned actor Giancarlo Esposito upon the game’s initial release in October 2021. Even though many players seem to prefer the first three Far Cry games in terms of story and gameplay, Far Cry 6 still provides the exciting open world experience in the made-up island nation of Yara that series fans have come to expect.

Earlier this year, Ubisoft announced an extremely expensive “Game of the Year” Edition of Far Cry 6 that would include all previously released downloadable content (DLC) and updates, in addition to the original game. Fans of Far Cry 6 may be scratching their heads over the new $119.99 edition, given that the base game costs $19.99 and the gold version with Game Pass DLCs costs $39.99. The correct response is Far Cry 6’s newest DLC, Lost Between Worlds.

A teaser for the expansion was released today on the game’s official Twitter, teasing that the reveal would take place on November 29 via a livestream on Twitch. Whether Lost Between Worlds will take place in the Far Cry 6 setting or be a spinoff like Far Cry 3’s Blood Dragon is unknown, but the teaser’s purple and crystalline aesthetic suggests a departure from Yara. The franchise has already provided content similar to Far Cry 4’s Primal, so a sudden shift into a universe-hopping adventure is not out of the question.

What ever Lost Between Worlds gives the player, it better be extraordinary if it’s supposed to justify the game’s ostensible $80 price tag. Ubisoft may sell the DLC separately from the base game, and if they do, it may cost half as much as the difference between Far Cry 6’s “Game of the Year” Edition and Gold Edition.

Only rumours have surfaced about Far Cry 7, with Jason Schreier reporting that it will be a significant departure from the previous games in the series. In the coming years, Far Cry fans will learn if this means live service similar to Assassin’s Creed Infinity, or if it means something completely different.
