Malenia has been the subject of much Elden Ring player ire and the source of great elation once a gamer succeeds to beat her due to her rapid assaults, health that regenerates everytime the player is struck, and the iconic Waterfowl dance.

Following the release of Elden Ring patch 1.07, a gamer on Reddit going by the handle DaddyWhoGames has found a new technique to defeat Malenia without allowing her to use any of her more powerful attacks. The Ordovis Greatsword’s weapon skill, “Ordovis’ Vortex,” holds the key to this dishonest tactic. Using this ability, Malenia spins her sword around her head and then slams it down in an area-of-effect attack, doing immense damage and knocking her to the ground. Malenia’s composure will be shattered after the second use of the weapon skill, opening the door for an unopposed counterattack.

DaddyWhoGames swaps to the Envoy’s Long Horn in the beginning of Malenia’s second phase, which is a drop from the Large Oracle Envoy in Leyndell. DaddyWhoGames does damage with the Bubble Shower ability as Malenia performs the rot flower attack. The Elden Ring user then returns to the greatsword for a brief reiteration of the first phase’s procedures. Malenia is quickly dispatched after being attacked twice, making her seem weaker than she truly is.
