A supporter of CD Projekt Red’s Cyberpunk 2077 went out and got a tattoo of a logo from one of the game’s ubiquitous megacorporations as a way to show their devotion to the franchise. Patch 1.6 and the critically acclaimed Netflix series Cyberpunk: Edgerunners have given Cyberpunk 2077 a huge boost as they prepare the ground for the game’s first expansion, Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty, which is scheduled for release sometime in 2023. Cyberpunk 2077 was initially released at the end of 2020 to mixed reviews.

The trend of getting tattoos inspired by video games is a long-standing one, with many fans having done so in the past. Reddit users bthayes28 (with some fantastic Skyrim-inspired ink), xCROSSEDOUTx (with a stunning new tattoo from The Last of Us), and Vortex60 (with a stunning Leshen tattoo from The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt) have all recently shown off some incredible new ink.

User jan pcmr of Reddit recently shared some new tattoo artwork inspired by the Arasaka Corporation from the Cyberpunk video game series. On Wednesday, November 23, the piece was published to the delight of some readers and the hilarity of others. The company uses a simple, modern logo, a tree with three branches. The tattoo on Jan pcmr’s upper wrist is a wink-and-nod encapsulation of all the terrifying power of the megacorporation in a discreet design.

The Arasaka Corporation is supposedly involved in cyber security, banking, and manufacturing in the world of Cyberpunk. As the primary antagonist to V in Cyberpunk 2077 and owner of the largest and most powerful private military in the world, it is an undeniable powerhouse in the Cyberpunk universe. Arasaka may have been named after a Japanese city, but its global reach extends far beyond Night City—all the way to the moon.

The vast majority of people who commented on the Reddit post pretended to be outraged when they really weren’t. Just as someone would get flak for getting a Star Wars Imperial insignia tattoo, so too can someone get branded with a logo that Cyberpunk 2077 fans know as the enemy, and the resulting interactions can be quite hilarious. It was all in good fun, with jan pcmr seemingly willing to play along with insults like “Corpo rat” and “Saka scum,” both of which are lore-friendly. Cyberpunk 2077 fans like jan pcmr have a lot to look forward to in 2023 when new content is expected to be released. If they’re looking for ideas for their next great tattoo, perhaps Phantom Liberty will do the trick.
