There has been a lot of back and forth over the material of Overwatch 2’s Halloween Terror event. Many players are excited about the new Wrath of the Bride objective, but others are frustrated with the low quantity of cosmetic items that can be earned via gameplay (with the two new skins also being very pricey). Fans shouldn’t be surprised if any material centred on a crossover appears, however how such occurrences are handled in the future is still up in the air.

Overwatch 2’s director Jon Spector has proposed crossovers, suggesting the prospect of collaborating with “other companies and other games.” The crossover between Fortnite and Naruto was mentioned, and although no details were given about future crossover plans, Blizzard’s enthusiasm in the concept suggests that crossovers between additional series are possible. Certain situations might work nicely for the hero shooter, Overwatch 2, if crossovers are included.

Overwatch and Marvel characters have been the inspiration for countless fan-created skins, making this one of the game’s first occurrences to warrant investigation. Spider-Gwen can be Widowmaker, Thor may be Reinhardt or Torbjorn, and the Scarlet Witch can be Moira. Junker Queen would look great in a She-Hulk costume, while Winston could definitely need a makeover as the X-Beast. Men’s The ideal example would be to dress up Doomfist as Thanos, as his trademark gauntlet could be equipped with Infinity Stones to complete the outfit.

A Civil War-themed mode would be amazing to see if Blizzard ever decides to make Marvel-related content into an actual event. In this arcade mode, the two teams each have a roster of predetermined characters, all of whom are skinned in a Marvel-inspired fashion. Combat may occur on specially designed maps with a Marvel theme, such as a Wakanda-inspired rendition of Numbani complete with Black Panther statues.

Players have already contemplated having Overwatch heroes cosplay as Star Wars characters, with some fan art from a few months ago imagining a lightsaber-wielding Genji.

Cassidy, the bandit, might make a great Han Solo, and Mercy, with her trusty staff, would make an excellent Rey. With his hood and mask, the edgy Reaper almost begs to be transformed into Kylo Ren, while Omnics like Bastion and Zenyatta may easily become droids like R2-D2 and C-3PO.

Since Epic Games routinely collaborates with Bungie and other developers on crossover content for Fortnite, it stands to reason that they would do the same with Overwatch 2. Given Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision Blizzard, the company’s own properties are the most probable candidates here, and a couple come to mind immediately.

Reinhardt could wear the Brotherhood of Steel’s Power Armor, while Ashe and Bob could wear their Fallout Vault suits. Soldier 76’s appearance might be altered to make him resemble Ghost from Call of Duty, and there are many more alternatives available from Halo and Gears of War.

Borderlands, which is not part of the Microsoft family of games, might make a good fit with Overwatch. Characters with masks, like Roadhog, would make excellent Psychos, while Kiriko’s demeanour and skills would make her a perfect foundation for a Siren skin like Maya.

Similar to how Moze, who uses a mech, has a natural equivalent in D.Va, Zer0 is a no-brainer for a Genji skin. Blizzard might have some fun with the series’ loot concentration via a future gameplay event. Obviously, this is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to possible crossovers; anime, movies, and television are all fair game as well. Overwatch 2 crossovers might be really exciting, but adding additional paid cosmetics to the game would simply contribute to the existing issue surrounding the game’s pricing.
