One Assassin’s Creed fan has given an idea for what the series may look like if it were set in World War II and made using Unreal Engine 5. Already, the Ezio games of Assassin’s Creed have taken players to Renaissance Italy, Ancient Greece, and the seas, while Assassin’s Creed Origins revealed what an Ancient Egyptian game in the franchise might be like.
There are many additional places and times in history that fans of the franchise would want to have included in the games. Some of these features will appear in future games, such as Assassin’s Creed Red, which will take the series to feudal Japan. But there are other ideas that fans have been wanting to see explored in an Assassin’s Creed game for a while but haven’t seen a whole game devoted to them just yet.
Many players of the Assassin’s Creed series would be interested in playing the game set during World War II. TeaserPlay has released a video on YouTube depicting what a World War II-set Assassin’s Creed game may look like, despite the fact that Ubisoft has made no intentions to develop such a game at this time. At under two minutes in length, the idea makes advantage of Unreal Engine 5’s capability to produce a visually striking rendition of Paris under German occupation.
The footage opens with an assassin leaping from a rooftop and rapidly killing two Nazi guards before making their approach to the primary target. The film begins by showcasing two stealth killings, then expands on the setting of the idea, and then concludes with the elimination of the principal target. A number of people in the comments section were quite enthusiastic about the idea of the TeaserPlay and expressed their desire for an official Assassin’s Creed game set during World War 2. While there hasn’t been a game set during this time period in its entirety, Assassin’s Creed Unity does use aspects of the conflict in a few of its missions. It makes sense for Ubisoft to cash in on the interest shown in the World War II content of Assassin’s Creed Unity by developing a full-fledged WWII game in the future.
In addition to conceptualising an Assassin’s Creed set during World War 2 for Unreal Engine 5, TeaserPlay has created a slew of additional movies showcasing the engine’s potential. The YouTuber has previously shown an idea for what a Japanese-set Assassin’s Creed may look like and an Unreal Engine 5-powered reimagining of Assassin’s Creed 2.
